Albert Gallatin Education Foundation

The Albert Gallatin Education Foundation is celebrating its 10th year during 2011. The Foundation was the brainchild of John Gruskowski, a retired physics and chemistry teacher in the Albert Gallatin School District. Upon retirement John was looking for something to keep him busy. He credits his wife, Dorothy, with suggesting that he consider establishing a foundation to help support the teachers and students of the district.

After researching foundations that were previously established in other districts, John began the arduous task of laying the basis for the Albert Gallatin Education Foundation. He is quick to credit Lee Price of Andrews and Price Law Firm, for providing extensive assistance in bringing the Foundation to fruition.

The Statement of Purpose reads – “to raise funds, manage assets and distribute resources in support of the Albert Gallatin School District’s mission of promoting a partnership of school personnel, students, families and communities to celebrate educational excellence by providing a nurturing safe environment in which all students can acquire the knowledge and skills to become lifelong learners and positively contribute to a global society.”

Since its inception, the Albert Gallatin Education Foundation has provided support to the students and teachers of the school district. Scholarships are granted to qualified graduating seniors. Mini-grants are awarded to classroom teachers for innovative academic programs. We believe that awarding these mini-grants help to lessen, even in a small way, the financial burdens placed on the district.

In addition, we have partnered with the Federal Funds Department to facilitate the “Dolly Parton Imagination Library”, a program that monthly provides, free of charge, age appropriate books to children from birth until kindergarten enrollment. Assuming responsibility for the Imagination Library will provide sustainability for this program once stimulus monies are no longer available.
