Hello everyone
It’s hard to believe that May is just around the corner and the last day of school is quickly approaching. I wanted to take this opportunity to tell all of you; parents/guardians, students and staff that it has been a pleasure, honor and privilege to serve as principal at D. Ferd Swaney Elementary this school year. Thank you for all of your support for myself, my staff and our students this year. I look forward to our paths crossing in the future.
May is a very busy month…. Please refer to the school calendar for events taking place this month.
Also, there is much information contained within this newsletter to help keep you informed, as we are nearing the last day of school.
Sincerely
Mrs. Baker
DISMISSAL
PROCEDURES
If a change in dismissal procedures for your child must occur, please send a note to school, with your child, in the morning detailing who will be picking up your child for the day.
Phone calls will only be taken in the case of an emergency to change dismissal procedures.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all of our students safe.
DRESS CODE POLICY
This is a friendly reminder: Since temperatures are beginning to rise, please be sure students are wearing proper attire to school. Please reference the dress code policy in the district student handbook.
AFTERNOON BUS
DROP-OFF
It is imperative, for student safety, that arrangements are made to receive students from buses in the afternoon. Thank you
LOCAL ASSESSMENTS
Kindergarten through 5th grade will take the local assessments (Dibels, GoMath, 4sights) during the week of May 9th.
CLEARANCES
As the end of the year and activities are quickly approaching, please be reminded that you must have all clearances on file in the school’s office to volunteer at activities. Thank you
PARENT ADVISORY/PTO MEETING
There will be a PAC meeting on May 10th at 4:15 p.m. in the library. The PTO meeting will immediately follow the PAC meeting.

Additional Information
We, at D. Ferd Swaney Elementary, value student safety. Please be advised that we will have monthly fire drills and periodic evacuation/lock down/severe weather drills. Administrators, teachers and AG school security will continue to review these procedures with students.
Also, Albert Gallatin school security will be rotating through the building to ensure school and student safety, including parking lots for student drop-off in the morning and student dismissal at the end of the day.
HAVE A GREAT MONTH OF MAY
AND SUMMER!!
