Family Holiday Night

Mark your calendars for the evening of December 8th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. This night will be filled with student crafts, baked goods, family photos for a small fee, 50/50 and a Chinese Auction. Each Plava student that attends will receive a free grade-level book. Come enjoy this evening and support our school.

Christmas Program

Students in kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms will be performing Monday, December 11th and students in third, fourth and fifth grades will be performing Tuesday, December 12th. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend during their child’s performance. The side (parent pick-up) door will open at 1:15 for the 1:30 performance, as we must prepare the cafeteria after lunch. Please sign the sign-out sheet as you enter the building if you will be taking your child home after the performance. We will not be dismissing students during the performance and students will only be dismissed to an individual whose name appears on emergency forms currently in the office. Students will be dismissed after all students have returned to their classrooms. No exceptions.

Holiday Glitz

During the Christmas season, George J. Plava will be raising money to support our version of “Sparkle” called Holiday Glitz. Monies raised will be used to help struggling students in our own school (coats, shoes, socks, etc.) as well as making a donation to the Sparkle campaign. It is important to remember those less fortunate and equally important to instill the act of giving into the hearts of our children. Students can purchase chances to win prizes donated by the teachers and staff at our Chinese Auction. Tickets for the Chinese Auction may be purchased beginning on Monday, December 11th and end on Thursday, December 21st. Tickets are 50 cents or 3 for a $1.00 and will be sold until Thursday, December 21st. Drawings will be held Thursday, December 21st during our Christmas Sing-A-Long. STUDENTS MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!

Christmas Cheer
Students are encouraged to wear their ugly Christmas sweater on December 8th and a Christmas themed hat on December 21st.  We are asking for a $1.00 donation for the Christmas themed hat on December 21st.

Christmas Parties/Break

All classroom parties will be on Thursday, December 21st and classroom teachers will provide specific information for each classroom. Students will be dismissed for the Christmas holiday at 2:20 PM on December 21st, and we will return to school on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018.

The faculty and staff wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you for all that you do to help our students succeed.

Sincerely,

Dr. Witt
